The introvert & the inner voice

I’m an introvert at heart. Most days, you’ll find me sitting quietly—either on my own or with people I know really well. I thrive in calm, intimate spaces. Crowds and constant chatter drain me.
I draw my energy from within.

But then, there’s my alter ego.

She’s bold, stylish, confident. She wants to be out there—engaging with people, starting conversations, connecting deeply.

She shows up every time I sit with a patient. She listens—not just to their words, but to what lies beneath. She wants to know what truly bothers them, what they’re afraid of, what they’ve never been able to say to a healthcare professional before.

I’m not in the room to fix my financial goals, or try out a new skill I learnt over the weekend.

I’m there for them. To hear, to understand, and to help—for real.

And here’s what I’ve learnt:

You have to explore your alter ego and harness your inner desire—why did you become a health professional in the first place?

You can be cool with clinical.

You can be confident with an honest diagnosis and treatment plan.

You can be empathetic—even while delivering the toughest news.
